Podzimní setkání Erikem Boers, 23.-24.11.2024 na FHS UK: Masterclass Socratic Dialogue and Practical Philosophy

Erik Boers je holandský lektor sokratovských rozhovorů a autor mnoha publikací, z nichž čerpáme inspiraci pro naši práci. Holandská sokratovská škola se trochu liší od té německé a na společném víkendovém setkání budeme mít příležitost vyzkoušet si jejich postupy a metodu. 

V Holandsku jsou filosofické sokratovské rozhovory běžné i ve firemní praxi a Erik Boers má mnohaleté zkušenosti s realizací vzdělávání a filosofických konzultací a workshopů ve firmách a v organizacích. Provede nás principy praktických filosofických workshopů a můžeme si vyzkoušet i konkrétní filosofické aktivity

Erik Boers (1960) holds a degree in Dutch Language & Literature (BA) and Philosophy (MA) from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. At the end of his studies he cofounded the Master program Philosophy of Management & Organization, where he was guest lecturer for 22 years. He is member of the Gesellschaft für sokratisches Philosophieren and has been conducting (variants of) Socratic Dialogues in organisations for more than thirty five years as an independent consultant. He is the author of numerous books and articles in this field. In 2022 he defended his PhD thesis 'From Science to Conscience; the Socratic Dialogue Reconsidered' (Radboud University, Nijmegen).

During the first day we will practice with different forms and elements of the Socratic Dialogue. And we will reflect on the theoretical background of this method. The second day is dedicated to a broader philosophical practice. I will introduce several practical philosophical exercises derived from the Liberal Arts: Dialectic, Rhetoric, Grammar and Ethics. These exercises will be illustrated with experiences from the way I apply them in boardrooms and groups of professionals.
